English aristocrat John Morgan (Richard Harris) is captured by the Sioux in America in 1825. Subjected to torture he proves to be as brave as his captors, who eventually convert him to their way of life. Followed by two sequels ' Return of a Man Called Horse' and 'Triumphs of a Man Called Horse'.
